Why we start with the site
Licensed capacity is the lowest of several constraints — usable indoor area, outdoor play area, restroom counts, egress — and on most urban sites the outdoor area binds well below what the building could hold.
That is measurable from a survey in minutes. It is also the number the entire business model rests on, and it is routinely established after a lease is signed.
We build to the requirements; we do not interpret them
A licensing consultant and the authority determine what applies. We build to it exactly, because a fence height, a fixture count or a finish that is nearly right fails an inspection that has to pass before a center can open.
We will not substitute a commercial finish for one specified to meet a licensing or safety requirement.
Finishing early enough to be inspected
An inspection that identifies items to correct is normal rather than a failure. The program has to complete construction early enough that correcting them does not move the opening date families were given.
Those families have arranged childcare around that date and given notice elsewhere, which makes it a harder date to move than most.
